Thanksgiving 2006

@ 07:17 PM (22 months, 27 days ago)

So many reasons to be grateful so little time...

I am thankful for:

- the sound of my daughter's sweet voice as she climbs into my bed every morning and says "Mom"

- the crashes and booms, the squeals and shrieks that mean my sons are strong, healthy and playing together, even if the furniture is a little worse for the wear

-a safe, warm home that offers shelter from the elements and a refuge from a confused and insecure world

- the strong, loving arms of a gentle husband who is a wonderful example of the Biblical injunction to love one's spouse as Christ loves the church

- parents whose dedication to faith and family inspire me to be a better woman and give me hope that I too can grow wiser and more Christlike with age

- brothers and sisters, friends and neighbors who've been steadfast in offering love and support through the good times and the bad

- the freedom to choose my course and the health and disposition to execute those choices

and above all

- a loving Father who saw in me something worth saving and His son who loved me enough to offer himself in my stead

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

  4. It was a wonderful day with family and friends. It appears that poor jocko has neither and he spent Thanksgiving alone drinking and blogging. Perhaps one of us should invite him to spend holidays with our families.

Yo jocko....you are invited to spend Christmas with my family. We begin with dinner around five on Christmas even and then go to Church. We usually have about 10 for Christmas Eve. Christmas day is spent at home and more relatives come over so dinner is usally for about 14, plenty of room for you. More relatives come the day after, still plenty of room for you. You are invited for the whole deal jocko. You will like it. Several of the relatives enjoy debating heads off of pins.

  5. Can I just say "ditto" to all you wrote? Except that mine is 4 daughters, and no sons, but it still thrills me when they tell me they love me or show their concern for our family. What I am even more thankful for is that they have become the young women that I hoped they would become when they were first laid in my arms. How blessed and how thankful I am for all that have had a hand in protecting and raising them with me.

  6. A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you, Cate, and to all the regulars here. I am thankful for the challenges in life that make the good times all the more pleasurable. And on a smaller scale, I am thankful for the political disagreements that come from wanting a better nation, and the hard-fought consensus that results from the arguments.

    Peace to all.

  7. Same to you Harry. I could not agree with your sentiments more. An honest airing of differing viewpoints and the resulting discussions only results in the participants being better informed.

I just saw Senator Elect Claire McCaskill on Hardball and I was very impressed and I like her.

  8. Sounds like Heaven. So many disregard the most simple and powerful blessings right in their laps. Mine are two of the sweetest smelling little fellas a mom could want. What more could I need?
