Bush to U.N.: Time for the Rubber to Meet the Road

@ 12:29 PM (26 months, 27 days ago)

Listened to Mr. Bush today over lunch.  You've got to love this man's speechwriter.  Wow!  As I'm listening to him rattle off a long list of problems afflicting the world and all of the United Nations' plans for addressing them,  I was visualizing world leaders dancing around to a revised version of John Lennon's song "You say you want a Resolution,  well you know.  We all want to change the world...".  How many useless resolutions are these "leaders" (and I use that term lightly) going to pass while people are dying in the Sudan?

U.N.  apparently it stands for UN as in unneccessary.

Here's Fox's recount of Bush's speech.  Still looking for the text unedited.  If you missed it, find it.  It's a very good read - and he actually delivered it reasonably well, too.

  1. Too bad his daddy didn't think so -
"It is the sacred principles enshrined in the UN Charter
to which we will henceforth pledge our allegiance." George H.W Bush

  3. The principles in the UN charter and the practices of the UN are unfortunately two very, very different things!

  4. Amen, Brooke!

They abandoned Rwanda but are anxious to redeem Saddam. Some days I swear I hear Twilight Zone music in the background of my life... Am I the only one seeing how inconsistently the UN applies its resolutions? Do do do do, do do do do

  5. So far their pal Ramsey Clark has gotten nowhere. Saddam should have hired the OJ dream team. Oh wait. One is dead.

  6. yeah - but it's the second half of his quote that scares me - "to which we will henceforth pledge our allegiance." Traitorous, plain and simple. I'd die before I pledged allegiance to the UN.

  7. The President has ignored the UN rightly so on more than one occasion. The President has no allegiance to the UN. Good for him for doing the lip service thing very well.

The UN should be shipped intact to france, the land sold to the Donald and put to good use. Maybe it would appear on an Apprentice episode.
