Democrats: 6 in '06

@ 07:03 PM (26 months, 19 days ago)

The Boston Globe is reporting that Democrats are revising their campaign approach.  According to the Globe, "Democrats are poised to fan out across the country today to tout their ``Six for '06" agenda -- a series of easily digestible policy proposals that party leaders hope will help them shed their reputation for diluting their positions with maddening complexity and nuance."  As if we needed more proof that the Dean-led Dems think the American people are stupid.  Gotta remove all that darn nuance!

Chuck Schumer is quoted as saying, "People want to know what we stand for, but they don't want an 80-page tome" .  No, Chuck.  People just don't agree with what you are saying.  A quick comparison of DNC.org and GOP.com shows that brevity is irrelevant.  Under the DNC's agenda tag, there is a list of major issues.  Under each issue, a brief paragraph outlining the party's position and then a page full of articles enumerating the various reasons to hate President Bush.  By contrast, the GOP page has a tag marked "party platform" under the "About Us" heading.  It's a 92 page document.  And believe it or not, Chuck, the GOP still won in '04.

When are these morons going to get it?  No matter how well you package manure, it still stinks.

I've created my own list:
The DNC's Top 6 in '06

1.  Foreign Policy:  Appease everyone.

2.  Fiscal Policy: Move as close to Communism as we can while pretending to take care of senior citizens, children, trees and Alaskan wildlife.

3.  Environmental Policy:  Buy into every scientific horror story no matter how unsupported or anectdotal the evidence and pass the cost on to the taxpayer.

4.  Social Policy:  Encourage unfettered personal freedom without responsibility to create the need for an elephantine government (i.e. Big Brother) to save people from their own stupidity. Undermine religion - if people find a Savior in their faith, they might not need us! (And of course, there's that whole personal accountability thing that most organized religions emphasize{shudder}...)

5.  Social-Equality Policy:  Create victims out of everyone and form a coalition of 'victimized' groups to maintain a voting bloc.

6.  Education, Social Security, Health Care etc...:  Keep on pretending to give a damn while undermining any efforts made toward progress by our opponents.

Note to DNC:  Feel free to use any of these talking points.  Among most intelligent Americans they would be considered public domain anyway.

  1. All the dems need is a pic of Bush's head inside a circle(/) with NO MORE - and they'll win by a landslide.

  2. I don't know, Dugg. Didn't work last time and they had Michael Moore propagandizing and George Soros dumping millions into the "we hate Bush" fund.

People want solutions, not just finger pointing. It's the reason incumbents stay in office. Most politicians don't offer much in the way of real answers so people are apathetic and we get 30 year Senators.

  4. Let's say the only choices were:

    Gore
    Hillary
    Kerry

Who or what would you pick out of that crew?

  5. OMG - what bad choices. I'd go with Gore, I guess. Everyone already knows he's nuts so there's less chance he could get away with something insidious...

  6. Maybe Tipper beats him. If so, she wouldn't be half bad running the country.

  7. Diebold voting machines make voting a meaningless game anyway. They install whoever they want and let us think we actually had some say in it. 87% want Bush impeached. Another 6% think he shouldn't be impeached but is doing a lousy job. 1% doesn't know. Hmmm....

  8. Let's see some back up for those figures Dugg.

Your latest is that all election results are made up by the Diebold Company? Who owns it's stock? Halliburton?

    Comment by Barry G.— 2006/08/05 @ 07:37 PM — (Reply)

  9. Last weeks MSNBC poll. You don't know about the diebold conspiracy? Come on, dude - keep up - you didn't think Bush actually won the last election either, did you?

    Comment by Dugg— 2006/08/05 @ 07:41 PM — (Reply)

  10. Give me a link to that poll that matches your numbers. I think perhaps you are being used as part of a grand conspiracy.

  12. OK, Dugg, I've got to respond on this one. These online quickvote polls are completely unscientific. Often an individual can vote repeatedly and let's not even mention the fact that the polls are usually right beside inflammatory articles that are read only by rabid Bush haters anyway.

Real polls results are taken in a completely random way (not just a poll of people reading MSNBC.com). Bush's numbers are low but not that low. According to Gallup the July 28-30 poll puts presidential approval at 40%. That's up 7% from the low that made headlines earlier this year.
The online quick votes are extremely suspect and are used only by the media to gauge their readership - so when you vote on those you are telling the FOR-RPOFIT BUSINESS that SELLS you the "news" which way YOU tilt politically. On the FOX news quick polls for example the prez has higher ratings.

If you want to make a point about polls (which btw gauge PERCEPTION not REALITY), then let's at least be intellectually honest here.

  13. lol, yeah. Lies, Damn lies - and polls & statistics. Still - 87%... gotta love it coming from something as mainstream as MSNBC.

    Comment by Dugg— 2006/08/06 @ 08:16 AM — (Reply)

  14. That's the point, Dugg, it doesn't come from MSNBC - it comes from the 17 rabid Bush haters who vote over and over - it has the scientific value of the American Idol competition :lol:

And remember that internet media is not "mainstream" - the internet news readers tend to be news hounds, not the typical American info consumer, the majority of whose news comes from 15 minutes of the local meteorologist, some CNN in the doctor's office waiting room and a glimpse at the Newsweek cover while waiting in a checkout line. Internet news readers are generally not unbiased moderates - they are opinionated partisans (or at the least devoted ideologues). These quick polls are the absolute worst source of information - it's like trying to investigate the death of Princess Di by analyzing the opinions of the National Enquirer's editorial staff.:lol::lol:

  15. Wait a second missy. I get my blog material from the National Enquirer. Are you questioning my sources?

  16. Oh lord... what was I saying about over-simplifying, reductionist mockery??

    Alright, to counter:

    The GOP's Top 6 in '06

    1. Foreign Policy: Whatever W. decides. He's the decider. He decides.

    2. Fiscal Policy: Run up the tab even more. Send the bill to our grandkids.

    3. Environmental Policy: There is no absolute scientific evidence that anything is actually bad for the environment. Bring back the fluorocarbons, the PCB's, lead in our gas and paint, and give our corporations tax breaks to do so.

    4. Social Policy: What's that?

    5. Social-Equality Policy: All votes are counted equally, and thanks to Diebold, they're all Republican.

    6. Education, Social Security, Health Care etc...: Whatever the Bible says. Outlaw teaching evolution, ban homosexuality, forbid wearing clothing made of two types of fabric- it is an abomination!!

  18. LOL! I love reading your comments, Cate!

Seriously, is it any wonder that the Dems keep losing elections when all they can throw at us is 'Hillary in '08, and Kennedy is God's gift to the Senate?

    HA!

  19. Hey Brooke,

Count at least one Dem who thinks Hillary is about the worst candidate that we could put up. Then again, I was against Bill when he ran as well. Give me Toby Keith in '08!
