FYI: Comment commandments Update

This is just a reminder that I reserve the right to delete comments that are crude, vulgar, irrelevant or malicious.  It's my online diary - if you don't like it, don't read it.  One particular post that I wrote has created quite the stir and I have had to delete about 10 comments from brave anonymous respondents like "Hang all Muds" (clearly of the neonazi persuasion) and "Albino Excuse" (a black panther supporter, no doubt).  If you feel the need to be angry after reading my blog, please feel free to go hit your pillow and punch the wall but don't litter my virtual playground with your hate-filled garbage.  If, on the other hand, you have a rational argument to make or desire to share your experiences in a reasoned way, the welcome mat is out.

    I am currently listed at "savage justice" on the "klanwatch" for banning a vulgar troll at my blog:

    The bottom line is that it isn't censorship. It is your blog; you conduct it as you see fit!

  2. Cate, I recall when you mentioned that you finally told your family about the blog. You are posting clean and most of all ,important issues for all of us to discuss. I for one, have leaned a lot from your words. And when individuals can't express themselves in an appropriate voice, you have the right to remove their remarks. I don't often have a chance to review what people say on all the blogs including mine. And it really bothers me when others want to attack each of us for posting something they don't agree with and use words like hurtful weapons. They turn their years of anger and frustration on all of us not realizing how ignorant and disrespectful they sound. They are not often heard in their own environments so they go to strangers.

  3. So often people make your point for you.

    In the Autumn Ashante post, I talk about how people who get caught up in being victims ultimately get left behind by society. And then here come these losers posting insanely uneducated posts and I want to say... And there you have it folks!

  5. LOL!

    The post I made a few months back about the 7 year old black poetess, Autumn Ashante. It's been so ugly I've considered deleting the whole post. Some of the comments have been absolutely awful and today one commentor decided that he/she should give me weight loss and parenting advice because he/she didn't like what I wrote. I just thought a reminder was in order that it's a waste of time to post cr@p that I'm just going to delete anyway.

  7. I did. But I had to take out the worst offenders - they were basically calling for genocide (of each other ironically).

  9. More power to you, Cate. I looked at that thread, and were it me, there would have been a good number more that would have been zapped. Vitriol is never constructive... moronic venom isn't even worth the time to read.

    This is your 'house,' and I've always tried to treat it as such, even though you and I are strangers with very disparate opinions.
